ARiEAL Core Research Platform

Language is at the center of societal and human well-being and existence. Our center for language research brings together an interdisciplinary team of researchers and offers comprehensive data creation, analysis, processing, and dissemination expertise based on language-informed methods.

Services we provide:

Experimental and Applied Research

Design, implement, and provide compliance monitoring and oversight of quantitative, qualitative, and mixed methods research programs on the impact of language on human interactions, cognitive functioning, learning, and physical.

Multi-method Data Creation

Approach research problems from a variety of methods and produce data using specialized equipment and laboratories, including eye tracking, electroencephalography, ultrasound imaging, sound recording, and high-performance computing.

Consultation & Training

Assist in developing problem-based language-focused research and educational programs in academic, not- for-profit, industry, and health-care settings and train researchers at any level to design and implement their own research program using specialized equipment and laboratories.

Partnership Creation and Fostering

Lead ethical and collaborative community-based research that benefits a variety of community groups, including organizations of older adults, people with disabilities, and Indigenous groups. Create and facilitate global partnerships with academic and non- academic institutions.

Benefits of working with ARiEAL:

ARiEAL provides access to the scientific knowledge, specialized equipment and laboratory facilities, and highly qualified personnel and expert staff to carry out this full cycle service.

Our interdisciplinary research center is placed to provide services and support in a variety of areas, including collection and analysis of language data across advanced experimental and computational methods; typical and impaired speech production, speech comprehension, reading, and writing; language and literacy development in the first and second language; efficient language learning; and communication within and across communities.

With a history of working with Indigenous communities, communities of older adults, people with disabilities, and linguistic minorities, our experts are trained to work with academics and community partners by enhancing ethical and inclusive research practices and providing expertise on socially impactful research programs that benefit underserved communities around the world.

Ability to provide a full cycle research/knowledge translation services – we take problems from “real world” settings, develop and implement a multi-methods research and experimental program to assess them, create and analyse the data in our lab, and from them on, communicate our findings to stakeholders, implement evidence-based solutions to their problems as well as measure their efficacy.
