A workshop on Wednesday, February 24, 2021, 2:00 – 3:00 pm
Are you struggling to stay motivated these days? Has COVID fatigue got you down? Do you miss the regular stretch breaks you got while walking between classes and meetings? This event might be for you! This ARiEAL Learning Series event will discuss how we can improve our motivation to stay active and healthy while going into our second year dealing with COVID-19. The past year has been hard on us all but having the tools to deal with stress and this new environment is proving more important than ever. One of the most useful tools we can build and develop is through physical activity.
This event will feature a presentation/workshop by McMaster’s own Sheereen Harris. Sheereen receives her BSc in Kinesiology from York University, her MSc in Kinesiology from McMaster, and is currently a PhD candidate in the Department of Kinesiology here at McMaster. Her research focuses on mental fatigue, exercise, motivation, and decision-making. During this presentation/workshop, the audience will learn:
- How behaviour modification works
- Techniques for being more active
- How to make a COVID plan for fitness
Physical activity is associated with a number of important physical and psychological benefits including reduced risk of cardiovascular disease and musculoskeletal issues, improved sleep, better mood, and better stress management. Join us to see how we can incorporate movement into our new work-from-home routines and reap the benefits during the pandemic and beyond! You will get the opportunity to actively engage in some demonstrations, so make sure to come ready and dressed to move!
