Asya is a fourth year undergraduate student pursuing a degree in Cognitive Science of Language. Her research experience includes volunteering as a research assistant in the Gaston Lab, where she supported studies involving EEG scanning. Academically, she is especially interested in sociolinguistics, with a particular focus on the Arabic language and its interactions with neighboring languages through processes of language contact. In addition to her research interests, she has also volunteered at a Speech clinic, where she worked with children with ASD, an experience that has strengthened her interest in exploring clinical applications of language science. She is excited to be serving as the Social Coordinator for the ARiEAL Operational Team this year!
