Dr. Ivona Kucerova, ARiEAL member, welcomes Dr. Nicholas Welch to her Syntax Laboratory as a post-doctoral fellow as of July 1, 2017. Dr. Nicholas Welch has an extensive expertise in syntax, documentation and revitalization of Dene languages. Dr. Welch received his PhD in Linguistics from University of Calgary and has also held postdoctoral research fellowships at University of Toronto. While at McMaster University, he will oversee training and fieldwork done by student members of the Syntax lab and will contribute to the current research on animacy done in the lab, especially on the indigenous languages of Canada.
