Throughout our academic and professional careers, we will often find ourselves committed to public speaking opportunities – for example, as graduate students, we must be prepared to defend our theses and give talks at conferences. When we find ourselves in these scenarios, how do we best maintain the focus of our audience? What visual and body language cues can guide our listeners to a better understanding of the message we are conveying?
Our very own Audrey Ho will teach us how to integrate tactful tricks into our presentations, from advice of industry persons and fellow academics.
Audrey is a first year MSc student in the Cognitive Science of language program. She is working in the ARiEAL Syntax Lab under the supervision of Dr. Ivona Kučerová. Currently, her research goal is to further understand the structural contrast of verb constructions in Cantonese, with a focus on particular light verbs.
This event will take place at LRW 4018 on Thursday, 3 November, at 1:30-3:00pm.
