[Learning Series] Smartwatches in Research with Maya Flannery

Our first Learning Series Event of the semester is coming up next week: Wednesday, November 12, 3:30-4:30 pm, at LRW 4018.

Please join us as ARiEAL doctoral trainee Maya Flannery discusses how she uses smart watches in her research. Maya will begin with some theoretical background (why record heart-related measures? what can they tell us?), then move on to the hardware and technical details, and conclude with a live demonstration of her watches and data analysis process.

Thanks to recent funding, ARiEAL has acquired five smartwatches that are now available for research use. This session will showcase how and why smartwatches can enhance your experimental design and data collection.

Maya is a PhD candidate in Dr. Lauren Fink’s Beat Lab (one of our Lab Directors). Her research explores how and why we enjoy music through individual listening experiences. She holds a BA and MSc in Psychology, Neuroscience & Behaviour from McMaster University, with a specialization in music cognition.
